Since time immemorial, the turtle has been the symbol of the Wendat people. We have always re-ferred to our continent as Turtle Island, and ourselves as its inhabitants. Our traditions teach that the turtle is so clever that no animal can outwit it. Perhaps our ancestors saw themselves in the turtle, and in Turtle’s origin story.
